Bristol SEO update

My little experiment to see if I can rank for Bristol SEO seems to have paid off. Despite not having done any work on my blog since August 12th, and having a grand total of one link to the blog, which is in fact an internal link, jamesmorell.com ranks 8th in an unersonalised Google.co.uk search for Bristol SEO. Imagine what I could do if I actually tried!

So what’s the next step in this experiment? Basically keep trying to rank higher by:

1. Link building

2. Sorting out the metadata on the site (headspace appears not to work with the thesis theme…)

3. Community interaction – joining in conversations around the web on SEO

I’m also intrigued to find that there are far, far more results for Bristol SEO than there are for Bristol web design (1.5million vs 675k) and more again for Bristol search engine optimisation (2.17million) despite Google insights for search data showing no-one searches for Bristol search engine optimisation, only a few people search for bristol SEO and loads search for Bristol web design or web design Bristol.

It appears fairly obvious to me that there is some low hanging fruit to be had there for a Bristol based web designer, and I think i might well have a go at trying to get some enquiries through about web design in the area, despite being rather lacking in design skills!

Have you seen an increase of visitors targeted for that keyword string and ultimately queries for custom work?
